ID Card Centre has made significant strides toward sustainability, transforming its operations to become a carbon-positive building. Through practical changes and expert guidance, they’ve reduced their environmental impact while improving their bottom line.
Key initiatives included the installation of 80kW solar panels, which now generate more energy than the building consumes. Traditional lighting was replaced with energy-efficient LED panels, and smart thermostats and energy-efficient monitors were implemented to optimize energy usage throughout their facility.
This transformation was made possible with the support of the Net Zero West Northants programme, part funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) via West Northamptonshire Council. The programme provided ID Card Centre with a CO2 usage survey and a tailored plan to reduce their carbon footprint. The expert advice helped identify areas for improvement and implement practical, cost-saving actions. As a result, ID Card Centre has achieved measurable sustainability goals while generating annual profits from surplus electricity.
